Lengthen Command : AutoCAD

Hello, Friends

Today We will learn about Lengthen Command in AutoCAD Software. Lengthen command is used to increase or decrease the length of the line, Arc object.

COMMAND: LENGTHEN (enter)

SHORT-CUT: LEN (enter)

MENU : MODIFY > LENGTHEN

RIBBON / TOOL ICON : 

By this command, We can change the length of the selected line, also change the length and included angle of Arc. We can also check the length of line, length & included angle of arc object. This command is similar to trim and extend command. Changes apply to the selected side of the object only.

1) DElta (de): 

Change the length of the selected object by delta value. Delta value should be positive or negative. A positive value increases the length & Negative value decreases the length of the selected arc or line.

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : de (enter)

Enter delta length or [Angle] : 1 (enter )

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on line

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : de (enter)

Enter delta length or [Angle] : -1 (enter )

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on line

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : de (enter)

Enter delta length or [Angle] : a (enter )

Enter delta angle : 30

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on Arc

2) Percent(p)

 Change the length of the selected arc or line percentage-wise.percent length changes the length of object by the percentage of total length.    

percent length        Change

       <100                Decrese length

       >100                Inscrease length

       =100                No Change

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : p (enter)

Enter percentage length  : 150 (enter )

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on line or Arc

3) Total (t)

Change the length of the selected line by total length. the current length of the object match with total length. For Arc, included angle value matches with total angle value.

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : t (enter)

Enter total length or [Angle] : 4 (enter )

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on lines

    

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : t (enter)

Enter total length or [Angle] : a (enter )

Enter total angle : 90 (enter)

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on arcs

4) DYnamic (dy):

Change the length or arc or line dynamically by a mouseclick. To change the length or arc or line by dragging one endpoint of objects. It's like trimming or extending objects by a mouseclick.

Steps:

Select an object to measure or [DElta / Percent / Total / DYnamic ] : dy (enter)

select an object to change or [Undo]: click on arcs or lines.
