Different Object Selection Methods in AutoCAD Software

 

Hello, Friends
Today We will see different object selection methods in AutoCAD Software.

COMMAND: SELECT

Select one or more objects using different selection options.

ALL: Select all the objects in the Drawing.When prompt to select objects on the Command-line window. Type ALL. We can also use CTRL+A key to select all the objects in the drawing.

(Note: Can't Select the locked or freeze layer objects.) 

SIngle(si) : Select only single object in selection.

Multiple(m) : Select multiple objects in selection without highlighting.For fewer or complex object selection we can use this option.

Add(a) : Using This option we can add objects to current selection set.

Remove(r): Using this option, We can remove any option from the current selection set.  

(Note: We can also use the SHIFT key and crossing /window / individual selection to remove objects from the selection.)

Window(w): Select all the objects which completely inside rectangular selection. We can specify window selection from left to right corner.

Crossing(c): Select all the objects which are completely inside and which are cross the selection. We can specify crossing selection from right to left.

WPolygon(wp): Select all objects which are inside the define different polygon points. Polygon points should not be cross each other or self-intersecting.

CPolygon(cp): Select all objects which are inside or Cross the define different polygon points. Polygon should not be cross each other or self-intersecting.

Fence(f): Select all objects which are crossing to a selection fence. The fence can be self-intersecting.

Group(g): Select all named or unnamed group objects. Type * to see the list of unnamed groups.

Previous(p): Select all the objects in the recent selection set.

Last(l):  Select the most recently created object. Can't Select an object if the Layer is freeze or locked.

We can also select the objects by lasso selection using Mouse Drag. We can select objects by Window Lasso / Crossing Lasso or Fence Lasso Selection. Use Spacebar to cycle between lasso, Crossing & Fence.
