How to use purge Command in AutoCAD Drawing?

Hello, Friends
Today We learn Purge Command in AutoCAD. Purge Command is used to remove unused & unreferenced items like Layers, Blocks, Dimension Style, Text Style, Linetypes etc... in AutoCAD Drawing.

We can used Purge Command to clean up AutoCAD Drawing to remove unused items. Removing unused items can reduce file size and also reduces clutter.

Command : Purge
Short-cut : Pu
Menu : File > Drawing Utilities > Purge


There are two options in Purge Dialog Box.
- Purgeable Items
- Find Non-Purgeable Items

Purgeable Items 
List the items that we can purge from list in current AutoCAD Drawing.


Preview
Click on item in list to see preview of Item.

Confirm Each item to be purged
Display Confirm Dialog Box when we purge item.


Purge Nested Items
Removes all unused named objects from the drawing even if they are contained within or referenced by other unused named objects.

Purge Unnamed Objects
        Zero-length geometry
        Deletes geometry of zero length, including lines, arcs, circles, and polylines.
        Empty text objects
        Deletes mtext and text objects that contain only spaces without any text.
        Orphaned data
        Performs a drawing scan and removes obsolete DGN linestyle data when you open the            Purge dialog box.

Note: The PURGE command will not remove unnamed objects from blocks or locked layers.

Purge Checked Items
Remove Selected items from Current AutoCAD Drawing.

Purge All
Purge all unused items from Drawing.

Find Non Purgeable Items
Preview Items that We can't Purge AutoCAD Drawing and Find those items in Drawing.


Named Items in Use
List the Name items that are used in Drawing and we can't purge those items.

Preview
Click on item in list to see preview of Item.

Possible Reasons
Display information that why we can't purge the selected item.

Details
Displays information about the object's size, location, and the total number of those objects in your drawing.
    Select Objects
    Closes the purge dialog box, selects the non-purgeable objects, and zooms in to them.

Reasons why we can't purge items in AutoCAD Drawing 
  • We can't purge Default Layer 0.
  • We can't purge all definitions named "Standard" like Text Style, Dimension Style, Multileader Style.
  • We can't purge Current Layer or Current Style ( Text Style, Dimension Style)
  • Located on a frozen layer and not visible, or on a locked layer
  • Continuous Linetype and nested block

How to write Mtext in AutoCAD Software?

  Hello, Friends Today We will learn Multiline Text(MText) In AutoCAD Software. COMMAND : Mtext Short-cut : MT Menu : Draw > Text > Multiline Text By Mtext Command, We can write Paragraph Text or Multilines in AutoCAD.There are many advantages in Mtext like Formatting Tools, Paragraph, Symbols, Columns. Convert Singleline Text into Multiline Text using TXT2MTXT Command in AutoCAD.

Hello, Friends Today We learn TXT2MTXT Command in AutoCAD. We can convert one or more Single line Text objects into Multiline Text (Mtext) Object. COMMAND : TXT2MTXT MENU : EXPRESS > TEXT > CONVERT TEXT TO MTEXT Settings > Combine into a single mtext object Combine Selected single line text objects into single mtext objects. Text ordering - Sort top-down Specifies the order of the selected text by descending vertical position. Text ordering - Select order of text Specifies the order of the selected text by manual selection by Mouseclick. Word-wrap text  Combines all the lines of text into a single line, and then wraps any text that exceeds the width of the mtext object to the next line.
